What to expect on the day
Sedation, not pain
You are asleep under sedation given by a certified anesthesiologist. Most patients remember nothing of the procedure.
Bring an adult companion
An adult companion is required. After sedation you can't drive for the rest of the day, and someone has to take you home or back to your hotel.
No driving
Plan a taxi or a driver for the trip back — not your own car.
Your report, the same day
You leave with your report the same day, plus a link where you can view it, download it as a PDF, and share the photos and video of your study — for example with your doctor back home.
Endoscopy (upper GI): 2 to 3 hours in total
Colonoscopy: 3 to 4 hours in total
Getting there
Hospital Amerimed, Consultorio 517 (fifth floor), on Mérida's Periférico Norte — you don't need to drive into downtown.
Take the Periférico to the Calle 149 (Los Héroes) exit. Free parking at the hospital. By taxi or DiDi, ask for “Hospital Amerimed, Periférico Norte”.

Do I need a referral?
No. You can book directly on WhatsApp. If a doctor at home ordered the study, send us the order and any previous results so Dr. Quiroz can review them before your appointment.
Can I pay by card or in US dollars?
We accept credit or debit card, cash (MXN) or bank transfer. Prices are billed in Mexican pesos (MXN); if you pay with a card issued outside Mexico, your bank converts the amount.
Who gives the sedation?
A certified anesthesiologist gives and monitors your sedation for the entire procedure, and a nurse is always present. Dr. Quiroz focuses on the endoscopy itself.
Can I have an endoscopy and a colonoscopy on the same day?
Yes. Both studies are done in one session under a single sedation — one preparation and one recovery. The combined price is from $9,500 MXN (≈ US$510, approximate — billed in MXN).
